Another incident just happened a couple weeks ago. I had major foot surgery on January 18. As they sent me home in a "walker," it seemed too heavy for me to move around the house and I seemed to have great difficulty navigating that. My son would carry me into the dining area and let me "sit up." Two days following surgery and still being very weak, I was working on crossword puzzles. It was about 8 PM or so and I was home alone as he was at his little part-time job.

While trying to figure out some of the answers, I heard them popping noises again. Of course it sounded like the same ones I hear nightly coming from my bedroom that I no longer sleep in. At first, I dismissed those sounds, thinking that it must be just my imagination. It happened the second time! I started to get a little bit concerned as, remember, I cannot walk or move around. I put down my crossword puzzle book and it happened again about 30 seconds later. This time it seemed much louder and by now any other thoughts that it was "sounds of the house" were rapidly getting tossed out in my mind.

Finally, when I heard the same popping noises the forth time, my fear this time turned to anger. Remembering what my daughter had said, yell back, I decided to do that as I really wasn't feeling well having a double bone graft in my foot as well as half of Home Depot in fixations planted on my foot. I was really irked, mad and furious! I yelled back into that room so loud that my words bounced around the tiny area, "Can't you see I'm very sick?!! I just got operated on and am in no moooood to be bothered with this nonsense. LEAVE ME ALONE!!!"

After that, about 20 seconds later, I heard one more time of popping noises, rather quieter than before, and then it stopped. For the remaining 2 hrs until my son came home, I sat and enjoyed peace and quiet.
