Please bear with us as Jason and I are still in the process of moving. The new ghost cam is up and the entries from the house in Wilkes-Barre will be moved to another section. The history of the place will be coming soon, so far we have traced it back to 1790, but believe the house dates to 1760 as indicated on a cornerstone.

Other experiences Other experiences I have had in the past, not related to this house.

Ghost Cam Web cam set up to capture potential ghostly activity in this house.

I would have posted this yesterday but was still shook up about it happening so needed to wait and calm down. Anyhow, we had something weird happen on Sunday night, again involving the baby monitor. After we had put the kids to sleep, Jason switched it on and we were planning on watching a few episodes of "Family Guy" in the "sanity room", the original section of our house. At one point the Logan woke up so I had to run back upstairs to nurse him, so we paused the episode and I fed him and then hopped in the shower quickly for 5 minutes. When I came out, I went back downstairs and Jason was in the kitchen getting a drink, so I went through the sanity room and into the laundry room to grab a shirt. The baby monitor was on the floor near the doorway so I could hear it clearly in case either of the kids woke. As I was walking back into the sanity room, I heard something on the baby monitor, but this time I was paying more attention. Call me crazy, but I swear it sounded like a male whispering "Jason" and then something else was said but um, honestly I was running away into the kitchen screaming Jason's name and didn't stick around to hear the rest. I'm a wuss after dark, and was freaking out when I heard it. I told Jason, so we went upstairs to check on the kids and they were sound asleep. I had him check the closets in that room too, just to be sure, hah, but nothing was there. Dragged the cat upstairs and threw him in the bedroom as well, but he wasn't phased either. It was definitely weird, and was hard to get to sleep that night after hearing it. But what else is weird is the dream I had as well, which I don't really think ties into anything, or at least I hope not, which pertained to Jason's father dying. I had him call and both his parents are okay, so I don't know if what I heard was just a fluke (though we haven't picked up anything stray other than the whispers that happened a few weeks ago and then two nights ago), if something is just stirred up since we're researching house history/restoring the house, or it could be a warning for Jason tied into the dream. I hope it's just the spirits (if they are here) wanting to contact and not scare us.

We had a few more odd things happen over the past few days. First was Thursday night, after we had gone shopping. Logan was still snoozing in his carseat and Alexandra was in the living room/playroom drinking some water. Jason was bringing in bags while I was unpacking them, and at one point while bringing in groceries, he asked where Alexandra was. I said that she's in the playroom, she's thirsty and has been drinking water or playng quietly, and asked why he wanted to know. He said that while unpacking he thought he heard a child's voice and thought it was Alexandra by the door waiting for him. I was in the house and hadn't heard Alexandra make a peep, and she definitely wasn't by the door at any point in time because I could see it from where I was in the kitchen. There are no other children that live around us in the country, we're surrounded by orchards, fields, and horses. Odd.

On Friday, Jason was sitting on the steps inside the house which lead to the second floor. Alexandra was sitting next to him and they were going through various change that he's been collecting, pointing out quarters, nickels, etc. I was sitting on the computer in the living room, which is adjacent to the steps, and had just put Logan down in the Pack N Play for one of his brief snoozes. Jason called to me and so I walked out of the living room and stood on the first few steps heading upstairs, and we started talking about how his day at work was. He mentioned that he had told someone who is "into ghosts" about what happened with the baby monitor, and as we started discussing the event we heard a short cry, almost like that from a baby. It seemed to come from the upstairs, but I walked the 10 feet from where I was and checked on Logan, who was still snoozing, dead to the world. Normally when he stirs he's UP, which stinks at night. Alexandra was next to Jason, so it could have been her. I headed back to the steps and quickly panned around the upstairs from my vantage point to see where Boris was. He was also in sight, snoozing underneith the futon in our guest bedroom, and apparently he was also dead to the world. Jason heard the baby cry as well, and aside from perhaps Logan yelping in his sleep, don't know what else it could be.

Hi everyone, I haven't updated this lately as we haven't really had too much happening that is worth mentioning. Actually there was one other thing that could possibly be considered paranormal, but I forget the details so there's probably no point in mentioning it now. Last night we did have something questionable go on, still attempting to figure it out. I was trying to put the children to bed early so that I could get a break and just relax. Both of them sleep in our room, Logan in his crib and Alexandra is sleeping with us until we set up a bed in our room for her, and will eventually move her out. So about 9 PM I managed to nurse Logan to sleep and Alexandra nodded off, I went downstairs and sat on the computer for a little bit. After a little while I had started the lights to get ready to go to bed but Jason suggested we go outside and sit on a blanket for a bit and look at the stars since it was a nice night. I agreed and so we took a sleeping blanket to sit on, and then some blankets to bundle up in and headed out to our yard. One other thing that was needed was the baby monitor, to listen to the kids in case they woke up, so we grabbed that as well.

We threw the sleeping bag on the ground, and just sat and chatted about various topics, mostly about what improvements we could make on the house in our quest to restore it. Over the weekend, Jason and his brother had removed some of the siding on what we believe to be the original section of the building in order to get an idea of the condition of the logs underneith. He was pleased with the condition of the logs and so of course, at one point we had talked about that. During our conversation, we started to hear some squeaks and sounds on the monitor, and I was ready to head in the house to nurse Logan when we heard a louder "squeak" which turned into a cry/meow combo. Boris! The goofy cat had gotten into our bedroom and was meowing and crying all around the room, so we chuckled and made some remarks about how he must be lonely and he'd better not wake the kids while looking for attention. He stopped meowing after a bit and we noticed him in the bathroom window, I guess he was happy just watching us. So again, we started chatting about our improvements on the house, and was outside for about 40 minutes when it happened. Over the baby monitor's receiver, both Jason and myself heard something shocking. We heard what sounded like someone, most likely male, coming right up next to the baby monitor in our room and whisper into it as it was rather loud in comparison to the meows heard earlier, most certainly not a baby or a 2 year old girl. I don't know what was said or intended to have been said, I wasn't paying too close attention at that point and was shocked that something other than crying or meowing was being transmitted. It was a short phrase, and as Jason and I looked at each other saying how weird it was, I told him we needed to go check on the kids. While getting our stuff together, Alexandra started yelling for "Mommy!" so I went in and everything was fine, she requested some water. Jason started to retract his previous statements of thinking he heard something, and said that it was MY wishful thinking. But today I again asked him what he thought HE heard, and his response: "No clue, but sounded like an adult male whispering something." So, did we actually hear something? No idea.

Here are a few things to add that again, probably mean nothing but I do want to keep track of this stuff so will put it here :) Actually I forgot two things on here last week that "happened" to Jason, things he thought were odd enough to mention to me. The first happened on Wednesday, July 13. The reason I know the date is because, looking on the calendar, I was sick that day and in bed. Jason had to tend to the kids because I had some form of stomach flu. The day had been hot, into the 90's, and around evening Jason decided to take the kids out for a little bit so I could rest in bed. When he came back, he started heading up the steps to go check and make sure I was alright and when he came to the room said "Wow, that was weird.". So, of course, I asked him what he was talking about and he said that as he was walking up the steps, he walked directly into a cold spot. The house only has two air conditoners, and PA weather is pretty gross in the summertime. Someone in the ghost chat room thought that perhaps it could have been due to a vent, but there are none near the steps and the windows in the upstairs only open in a few places, so the air is quite heavy, no breezes. The second thing that happened to Jason was a few evenings ago, when he was sitting in the non-air conditioned "sanity room" in the original section of the building and typing on his computer. Again, a hot day, and he told me that he again had something weird happen. I think he explained it like a "draft running over his foot".

Anyway, there were two things that happened yesterday that I wanted to mention here. The first was that yesterday morning I had decided I wanted to clean the area rug in the kids' playroom. The carpet cleaner requires HOT water in order to work properly so I turned the water on in the kitchen sink and waited for the hot water to come through the pipes so that I could fill the jug. And waited...and waited. At first I thought the furnace was out of oil, but I figured for the heck of it I would check the switch which is located in the "pantry", underneith the steps. Yep, the switch was off! Then I became mad at Jason for switching it off and not turning it back on, so I sent him an angry email, haha. He sent me an email back with a funny :-/ face and said that he hadn't touched the switch. Alexandra isn't tall enough to reach that switch, and we don't normally allow her run of the house since it's not fixed up, not to mention a dark pantry isn't exactly fascinating to a 2 year old, and come to think of it she doesn't even know the switch is there. Perhaps there's another reason that happened though.

The second thing happened last night, and is just something to mention for the heck of it. I had gone into the ghost cam room around 7:30 or so in the evening to turn on a light for the cam. One of our puppies, Adora, follows me around the house and has followed me into that room before, but for some reason when I entered the room she refused to come in and then started barking at the center of the room. I don't know what her issue was, it freaked me out a little bit because sometimes animals can sense things that humans can't, but perhaps she was just barking at a bug or a box, I don't know.

I had something strange happen just a little bit ago, but perhaps it was just Boris the cat. I was sitting in the living room/play room which we have sectioned off with a baby gate for the kids. My son, Logan, was in his Pack N Play and my daughter Alexandra was sitting on my lap watching tv. Our new puppy that we just got two days ago was asleep at my feet. While we were sitting here, I heard loud movement in the kitchen, very briefly and then stopped. Alexandra started to yell "Daddy!" but because I had just received an email from Jason a few minutes before, figured it wasn't him and more likely UPS dropping off a package. I heard it again, the sounds lasted a little longer, and was reminiscent of a heavy box sliding across a floor, or perhaps a few boxes being moved. So the second time I heard it, I sprung up, in case UPS needed a signature or in the unlikely event it would be someone breaking in, heh heh. I enter the kitchen, see nothing. I then wander out onto the laundry room area to see if there was a package, nope. The only thing I can think of is perhaps Boris was playing around in boxes. For those that are curious, I chickened out on trying to record EVPs Friday night, I was too creeped out to do it by myself :) I will hopefully do it sometime this week. I did upload a possible EVP that I got about three weeks ago when I tried recording in my bedroom, you can *click here* to listen to what sounds, to me, like "Look".

Another quick note, something that was fairly odd but perhaps was just my mind playing up. I was sitting here in the living room and felt a brush of fur on my ankle. My mind briefly flashed to Boris, our cat, and how he's always hanging around :) But then, a second later, I realized that Boris does not come into this section of the house during the day, because he gets mauled by the kids and while he doesn't mind, just does his own thing (sleeping) during the day. The oddest thing isn't the sensation itself, but moreso that more than a few members of the ghost chat room have mentioned that they have seen what appears to be a cat or two on the ghost cam, but NOT Boris! Again, perhaps my mind is just playing up.

Thursday, July 7, 2005

This is just a quick thing, and perhaps it's nothing but might as well add it anyhow. I just woke up a little bit ago because Logan, my 7 month old, "told" me to :) My daughter Alexandra, who is 2.5 years old, is still asleep upstairs. While sitting downstairs and trying to wake up, I distinctly heard Alexandra call "Mommy!" like she normally does when she first wakes up and is at the top of the steps, too sleepy to walk down so I carry her. So I jump up, as usual, and head on up the steps. No Alexandra. I listen and didn't hear any movement, as I thought perhaps she had decided to start rummaging in another room. No sounds, so I checked where she was sleeping and yes, she's still in bed. Perhaps I just heard something else and mistook it as her, but something to mention nonetheless. Tomorrow night I will try getting some EVP's in this house, I'll let everyone know how that goes.

Thursday, June 9, 2005

I have just arrived with the kids and cat on Monday to our "new" house and am wondering if this place is haunted and if so by whom? Do they want to make contact? I had an odd thing happen, and am not sure if it is paranormal or not, but nonetheless I will mention it here as perhaps it is a first attempt a spirits making contact. One of the things the previous owner left was an air conditioner in the master bedroom, our bedroom, probably because it's wedged in there and she didn't want to take the time or effort to get it out. Plus I'm hoping that she was being nice in leaving it. So, the past few days we've been running the air conditioner or just the fan nonstop and it works great! No problems whatsoever. Well, last night after the kids were asleep (at the moment we all sleep in the same room), Jason and I are laying in bed, and I'm trying to nod off. Now, this is going to sound strange... I heard something, but not "with my ears". It was in my head but I had just assumed that because I was starting to fall asleep that it was nothing. I guess it could be described as faint, far off talking/rambling but honestly I am not sure since, as I said, I was dozing off. Obviously I didn't think much of it until the air conditioner, which, as i said, has been working great, turns off. That got me awake FAST, LOL! So what did I do? Poke Jason! He was still awake, trying to nod off himself. I said something along the lines of "Hey, the air condiioner's off, what happened?". He suggested that circuit blew, but a light was still on in the other section of our bedroom (I gotta have some sort of a nightlight). So, me being the brave person that I am, suggested that HE try to go and turn it back on, since it was already getting muggy. Well, he got up and pushed the button...it turned back on, no problem. ??? Also, not sure if this is related, but Boris was really meowing to try and get in our room last night as well. He's a mama's boy, though, and purrs nonstop, so because we haven't been getting much sleep we didn't want him to keep us up and kept our door closed. This morning when I got up, I left the door open, Jason had shut the air conditioner off when he left for work because it wasn't hot (yet) this morning. Boris was standing outside the door, and headed directly to underneith the window where the air conditioner is and just stares at it. An hour later I went to check on Alexandra, who wasn't yet up, and Boris was still staring at it. So not anything big, am not sure if it's something trying to contact us or not. Someone in the chat room suggested it may be the wiring, but we just had the house inspected two weeks ago, before we bought it. I told Jason that I'm going to try recording EVPs soon. He just rolled his eyes, gave me a look and said something like "Aww, not this house!" I think he may be afraid of what I'll pick up. As of now, I'm not going to consider this house haunted until there is further activity, preferably experienced by others as well as myself, and I hopefully obtain something via EVP.
